ImagiNET is a cooperative venture among the Northern
Buckeye Education Council, the Northwest Ohio Educational Service Center, Northwest
State Community College, 28 educational entities, area businesses and social agencies
to establish a high speed network. The goals for establishing the network are to:
- stimulate and support the economy of the four county area
- allow world-wide access to information by businesses, schools,
and citizenry of the four county area
- create affordable levels of access
- connect business, education, social agencies, and the citizenry
in order to improve the quality of community life
- provide distance education and training to K-12 students,
teachers, adult learners, and the area workforce
- create a network that is sustainable
- create a network that interfaces with existing networks
ImagiNET is supported by: $370,000 in contributions
by area school districts participating in the project; $1,004,724 from SchoolNet
Telecommunity grants; and, a $500,000 grant from the Board of Regents.
