In 1988 Holgate was the first school to offer a Home Economics latchkey program. This was started with the help of a $10,000 grant written by Mrs. Kohl. In the latchkey program students in grades K-6 are kept safe in the school facility after school hours. Students are aided with homework, given a nutritious snack and are given time in the development of social skills. The program is still only one of the few programs in the state of Ohio like it. |
