The Giver
Lois Lowry

I liked this book a lot.  It was about a boy named Jonas who was turning into a twelve.  When you turn into a twelve, you need a job in the community.  Everyone had an aver age job except Jonas.  He was  the new Reciever.  The Reciever had to hold all the memories.

Jonas lives in a communtiy where there are no memories of sadness and pain.  So he has to hold all of the memories of war, pain, and color.  He has good memories also.  He wants to let the whole community have these memories.  There is only one way to do this and that is to have the Reciever gone.  So Jonas runs away.

I recommend this book to young adults with a big imagination.  I think it is a science fiction book.  It was written by Lois Lowry.  It won a Newberry Award.  Lois Lowry also wrote Number the Stars, A Summer to Die, and Find a Stranger, Say Goodbye.   I would give thins book an 8 out of 10.  I recommend you read this book.  It is pretty easy to read, also.  I thought this book was very interesting.
