Senior Braden Martinez wins state again in 2004 making him a two time state champion. He won this years race with a time of 16:02 leading the field of runner through out the race. Braden has competed in state cross country three times, and was very disappointed in last years finish, when he placed second. "It took away the most important thing for me, my state championship," Braden said. Braden faced the person who beat him several times before, and beat him by 20 or more seconds each time. "He had a good race, and I had a bad race," Braden admitted. Braden took second due to his hard work and discipline. To train, he lifts weights in addition to practice. He also eats a no fat, high protein, high carbohydrate diet. Even though he did not make his goal for last season, Braden has set a few goals for this season. Braden quit the basketball team to run nationally. He also wants to break the state record of 15:19.
