On November 1st 2003, freshman Lauren Hancock did something no other female runner has ever done in the history of Stryker High School, she ran at the State cross-country meet. Lauren represented her school well with a finishing time of 21:05, which put her in 76th place. Lauren was happy just to have made it to the state meet. She said, "My goal all season was to get there, so once I did it seemed like the pressure was off. I just wanted to have fun." Being a freshman and accomplishing such a feat means there are big plans in Lauren's future. "I want to make it back next year and now that I know what it's like to be there, my plans are to better my finishing place."

Lauren also runs track and hopes to do some great things there. She holds a few records from her Jr. High days and hopes that success carries over into her high school career.
