TARDINESS TO SCHOOL:Students arriving to school late must report to the office and sign in. A note signed by the parents is required and must include the reason for the tardiness. Excessive tardiness will be dealt with by one or a combination of the following disciplinary acts: detention, parent contact, juvenile court, or suspension. TARDINESS TO CLASS:Students have three minutes to get from one class to another. This is sufficient time if students go directly to class and do not loiter. Students who are not in the classroom by the time the bell rings will be considered tardy and their name will be sent to the office. After five unexcused tardies, the student will be assigned a detention. Ten tardies will result in a Saturday School and 15 tardies will result in a one day suspension. The accumulation of tardies will not carry over from one quarter to the next. ABSENCES:It is important that every student be in school each day that school is in session. Students who are absent are responsible to make up work missed in each class. Students are allowed one day make up time for each day of school missed. Parents must notify the school by 9:00 a.m. on the day of the absence. The following reasons are listed as excused absences.
Students who plan to be absent for other reasons must make arrangements with the principal prior to the absence. A student may be excused up to 10 days a school year for a family vacation provided at least one parent or legal guardian be with the student on the vacation the entire time. Students who are absent are required to bring a note the first day of their return to school and must include the reason for the absence and parent signature. This note must be taken to the office the first thing in the morning. Students who do not present the office with a written note, signed by a parent, will receive a zero for the classes missed during the absence. If the student forgets the note, telephone verification will be allowed the first time followed by a written note brought in the following morning. Any absences of over ten days in a class during any semester grading period could result in an automatic failure for such classes, unless the student is medically unable to be in attendance. Special cases will be decided on by a committee composed of the Principal, Attendance Officer, Health Nurse, and two teachers who have the student in class. Excessive absenteeism will be dealt with by one or a combination of the following disciplinary acts: parent contact, detention, suspension, juven ile court, or expulsion. HUNTING:All hunting trips must be prearranged with a note and assignments picked up before the hunting trip. One day of absence is the maximum number of days excused for hunting. EARLY DISMISSAL:The school recognizes the fact that it is necessary for students to be taken out of school early for doctor appointments, etc., from time to time. Students must bring a note from home and bring it to the office before the first period on the day the student wishes to be dismissed early. The note should contain the reason and time for dismissal and parent signature. The person picking the child up will be required to come to the office and sign the child out. Students are to be in the classroom until the office calls for them. Parents are not to go directly to the classroom. VISITATION:If it is necessary for you, as a parent, to come to the school to see your child or for any other purpose, you must report to the office. Parents and visitors will not be permitted to come into the building and go to the classroom unless they have checked in with the office. Field Trips:Classes go on educational field trips from time to time throughout the school year. Students must have a permission slip signed by their parents and returned to school before attending each field trip. All discipline policies will be in effect and enforced on all Junior High field trips. Withdrawal from School:The procedure for withdrawal from school is as follows: |
