Ayersville School District hosted a creative and engaging family event during Right to Read Week called Zooming Through Pages with Hot Wheels! It was a great night that combined reading, racing, and hands-on STEM activities—bringing families together for learning and fun.
One of the highlights was the Sphero Indi station, where students built their own Three Little Pigs villages and then used color tiles to program Sphero Indis to visit the straw, stick, and brick houses in order—just like in the story. It was a fantastic way for kids to explore coding, sequencing, and basic robotics while also reinforcing story structure. They got a taste of problem-solving and even picked up a little math and spatial reasoning along the way.

Over 60 students and 40 parents attended, and many of the adults were really impressed by how the activity helped teach STEM concepts in a fun, approachable way. A few even asked where they could buy a Sphero Indi for home—always a good sign that the learning stuck!
Zooming Through Pages was a great example of how literacy and technology can come together to create meaningful, memorable experiences for students and families. NWOCA is proud to support events like this and looks forward to partnering with more schools to make hands-on learning a part of every student’s journey
