Northern Buckeye Education Council / Northwest Ohio Computer Association (NBEC/NWOCA)—serving 30+ member districts—has been awarded a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) open grant through the State Library of Ohio. The funding will equip regional libraries with three Cover One book-repair machines and supplies to extend the life of damaged titles for students across northwest Ohio.

For years, tight budgets have left shelves with worn favorites and essential classroom texts that were hard to replace. These new repair systems will give thousands of books a second life—preserving collections, cutting replacement costs, and keeping students connected to the stories and resources they love.

“The Cover One machine has helped save many of our well-loved books,” said Jenae Lammers, librarian at Pettisville Schools. “It’s simple to operate—even for a new user—and I was able to repair several books that needed spine TLC. They’re nearly as good as new!”

Over the next year, participating districts anticipate repairing thousands of volumes, resulting in substantial savings and improved access for students.

Funding acknowledgement: This project is supported in full by a federal LSTA grant awarded by the State Library of Ohio, administered with funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).

NBEC/NWOCA thanks the State Library of Ohio and IMLS for their support and looks forward to the positive impact this project will have on student reading experiences across our region.
